As I’m sure you now know I am running for the State Senate seat for Indiana District 26. I am now asking for your support because I sincerely feel the citizens of our district need to get behind the most qualified candidate who can serve and represent our community at the state level, someone who will vote the heart and mind of the constituency.

My community service includes:
· Hillcroft Board of Directors—3 years
· Civic Center Authority Board—8 years (founding board member)
· Urban Enterprise Association—15 years (President 7 years)
· Indiana Licensed Beverage Association—36 years (Chairman of the Board 2
  years, President 4 years, Vice President 6 years)

While president of the UEA, I was instrumental in several community improvement projects including:
· Giving a grant of $280,000 to Youth Opportunity Center for start up money for cottages
· Spearheading a grant of $100,000 to fund community centers when funding was stopped
· Starting the home ownership program with the housing director that received national recognition from
   President Clinton as one of the top 24 programs in America

When budget cuts caused the fireworks to be cut from the reservoir, I personally wrote a check to finance them in full so the community did not lose this asset.

In addition to my community involvement, I have experience lobbying for a state association to state representatives, senators and governors over the course of 28 years. This gives me the experience and knowledge at the state level to do the same for our community. I know I have the experience and the passion to do the best job.
